10 Good Reasons To Send Someone A Gift Basket in March
10 Good Reasons To Send Someone A Gift Basket in March
The month of March soon is on its way and when people think
of March holidays one immediately thinks of Saint Patrick’s Day and sometimes
Easter. It turns out that there are many more reasons to celebrate than these
two “Traditional Holidays. Here are other celebratory occasions to look forward
to next month.
1 . Oscar
Night: This year Oscar Night
is on March 2. Oscar Night is that wonderful night when the Academy of Motion
Pictures, Arts, and Sciences have a love fest for the year’s best motion
picture. In spite of all the awards that are out there to win for Hollywood
stars to receive, the Oscar is the most coveted.
For the “little people” Oscar Night
traditions include Oscar Parties around the television, cooking up snacks and
mixing up cocktails, and placing friendly wagers on who will win. It’s like the
Super Bowl with movie stars. And
just like the day after the Super Bowl where sports fans gather around water
coolers, local bars, and anywhere anyone will listen, cinema aficionados will
spend the following day sharing tidbits of theatre and cinema trivia, and
everyone tries to impress each other with “Did you Know” facts about the
winners.
People do not just watch the Oscars to see what the best
picture of the year was. As we watch the Super Bowl to see the commercials and
what scandal will occur at this year’s half time show, many partake in
Oscar-mania to see the gowns and follow up on who was the worst dressed and who
was the best dressed, and sometimes the least dressed.
2 .
I Want
You To Be Happy Day
When: Always March 3
One of the lesser-known March
holidays, this is probably one of the more important secular holidays that should
be more widely recognized.
I Want You To Be Happy Day is a day
devoted to unselfishness. “I want
you to be happy” is a sentiment that we express for those we care for or
love.
How do you observe this day? Well,
since we all know what they say about “wishing in one hand”, use this holiday
as an opportunity to do more than wish someone happiness. Do something to make
someone happy. Send someone a gift
basket that will brighten his or her day.
Other ideas:
·
Pick up the phone and call (not text… CALL)
someone.
·
Hand out sincere compliments like it’s your job.
Don’t be afraid to get creative! There are infinite ways to
make someone happy!
3. Mardi
Gras-Fat Tuesday
When: March 4, 2014
Time to eat and drink!
Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday. It is also
referred to as Mardi Gras Day or Shrove Tuesday. It is a day to eat like a glutton and completely derail your
New Year’s weight loss resolutions (if you haven’t already) as the next day is
Ash Wednesday, which is the kick off of a 40 day fasting period for
Christians. In more modern times,
not as many people fast but many will still sacrifice something special. Thus,
Fat Tuesday is the “last hurrah” to enjoy those cookies, McDonald’s French
Fries, Chocolate, or any other snack that you just have to have.
Fun Fact: In New Orleans,
the city most known for Mardi Gras celebrations and debauchery, on Bourbon
Street, store owners and shop keepers cover poles and columns with Vaseline to
keep inebriated partiers from climbing them. (I do the same thing to my
bird feeder to keep the squirrels away.
Just sayin’).
4. National Employee Appreciation Day
When: March 7, 2014
If you have to
get your boss something for Boss’s Day it only seems fair that employees were
honored as well. Employee Appreciation Day does that and honors employees
everywhere!
On this day, your company should be planning and executing
celebrations. Recognitions are as varied as managers and bosses and could
include snacks, lunch, cakes, or other goodies, or the ever coveted “World’s
best employee “ mug. If you want
the day off, you’ll have to use a personal day.
5. International
Working Women’s Day
When: March 8, 2014
International Working Women’s Day
is an internationally recognized holiday that is sponsored by the United
Nations. However, don’t send a thank you card thanking the UN for founding this
important day. The origins of
Women’s Day began in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The holiday stemmed from
women socialist movements and early women trade union organizations.
The very first International Working Women’s Day took place
on March 19, 1911. Prior to this observance, women socialists and trade unions
observed Women’s Day earlier in February of 1908. The focus on International
Women’s Day is upon women workers, advancing women’s rights in the workplace,
politics, and society.
6. Absolutely
Incredible Kids Day
When: Always March 15
What parent won’t want a day where they can announce to
everyone how incredible their kid (s) is/are? Celebrating this holiday that was
created by Campfire USA is easy: make it point to show them how much you care
and how great they are! Campfire USA suggests writing your favorite kid or kids
a letter showing your love. Gift baskets or tokens of appreciation are other
ideas.
7. Purim
When: March 15, 2014
Purim actually is a two-day event that begins at sundown on
the fourteenth day of Adar, the twelfth month of the Jewish calendar. (March 14th
for the Gentiles).
Just as Christmas is one of the most festive Christian holidays,
Purim is the most festive Jewish holiday. Children don costumes and gifts are
exchanged. Solemn synagogues become festive arenas. Children delight in shaking
noisemakers known as “Graggers.”
What is the reason for all of these grand festivities? Purim celebrates Queen Esther, King
Ahasuerus, Mordechai, and Haman. Purim first took place in the Persian Empire
in the 5th century B.C.E.
Purim celebrates a major victory against Jewish oppression that occurred
during that time.
8. Erin Go Braugh- St. Patrick’s Day
When: Always
March 17
St. Patrick’s Day is that magical day where everyone turns a
little Irish, green beer flows freely, and people take off work to catch the
parade. Contrary to popular belief, St. Patrick’s Day was not meant to be a day
of drunken debauchery. It actually was created in honor of… (Spoiler
Alert) Saint Patrick who did not invent green beer but did serve as a
missionary and brought Christianity to Ireland in the 400s A.D.
Just what does Erin Go Braugh Mean? The most common Irish
expression, it means “Ireland Forever.”
Fun Fact: Over 34
million Americans come from Irish Descent. This number is 9 times the
population of Ireland!
9. National Goof Off
Day
When: Always March 22
Who doesn’t love a day designated for fun and relaxation?
This is the day to do everything and anything, except what your SUPPOSED to be doing.
Assuming you don’t get yourself in trouble with the boss and
risk losing your job, take this day to go do something fun: hit the golf
course, go fishing, surf the Internet, read a book. The list goes on! This day
is all about you doing something that you enjoy.
10. National Doctor’s Day
When:
Always March 30
National Doctor’s Day was created so we can show
appreciation to (Spoiler Alert)… our doctors. Doctors provide us to the
question, “What’s wrong with me?” and they provide treatment and care to you
and your loved ones. When we’re healthy Doctors keep us healthy and when we’re
sick they move Heaven and Earth to return us back to healthy beings.
This is the day where you just tell your doctor how much
he/she is appreciated. Don’t have
a doctor’s appointment on March 30th? Say thank you at your next
visit or send them appreciation with a gift basket.
So there you have it. Ten holidays that you can use as an opportunity to send a La Bella Gift Basket or simply express love and appreciation or eat, drink and be merry! To see all of my gifting options stop by www.bubblybasketgal.labellabaskets.com today!
